A Destination

Table 14 is owned by husband and wife team Howard and Laura Iles.
Chef Howard takes inspiration from all the places he’s lived and trained: California, Maryland, South Carolina and Louisiana. But, he says the main focus of Table 14 is Charleston, S.C.-inspired dishes.

On the corner of Ludington Avenue and Rath, there’s a new kid in town. Gone is the adorable sweet shop café that had graced this corner for the past dozen years.

In its place, a sleek newcomer with a bold new cuisine. If you’ve had the pleasure of dipping below the Mason Dixon line, this will be a welcome surprise.

Not strictly a southern style establishment but a local place with a southern flair. Sure, we have the best She Crab soup, Shrimp and Grits and collard greens for miles around! But, we also have delicious salmon, whitefish and duck.

Beautiful dishes to rival the big city players, but with a comfortable, relaxed feel of a southern home. So, come enjoy the beach then stop in for a delicious meal with a classic cocktail next time you’re in town.

Howard Iles
EXECUTIVE CHEF

Laura Iles
Manager

Once upon a time on the beach of Stearns park in Ludington, MI a boy met a girl. and the rest is history.

Howard was a navy brat, moving to Louisiana, California and Maryland before returning to his birth place of Ludington at 16. Laura was a transplant from Minnesota who  grew up in Ludington just three blocks from Stearns beach.

After getting married in Ludington and moving to Traverse City for a brief stint, the couple decided to relocate to Charleston, SC so Howard could attend Johnson and Wales University to study Culinary Arts.

Chef Howard honed his craft in the eclectic southern style of the Low country coastal region while working for ClubCorp at private city clubs in South Carolina.

A few years ago they decided to bring his craft back home to the shores of Lake Michigan. After much dreaming, planning and hard work, Laura and Howard opened Table 14 in August of 2016 with their two southern born sons, Blaise and Chance.
